We’re slowly bringing our vision to life, creating a peaceful oasis for relaxation. Continuously growing and improving the Tiny Village to create the ultimate retreat for our guests, including providing each tiny home with their own private hot-tub and access to the shared, wood-burning sauna.

What is Thermotherapy?

Thermotherapy is a treatment that involves alternating between hot and cold temperatures, followed by a rest period. This relaxation ritual is based on a 2000-year-old tradition founded in Nordic countries and studies support numerous health benefits when the cycle is repeated three times.

Thermotherapy consists of raising the temperature of your body through heat and then cooling down with cold. You will feel exhilarated immediately, and then deeply relaxed in the following minutes.

Relaxing after those 2 stages or at any time, is important as your body needs to balance out the temperature changes it has been through.

Repeat those stages at least 3 times during your stay and you will feel not only rejuvenated, but the amazing benefits of the thermal & hydro therapy on your health.

Thermotherapy Cycle

Step 1 Hot

The first step of the thermal cycle involves exposing your body to intense heat for 5 to 15 minutes.

Spend this first step in our wood-burning sauna or your private hot tub and let the soothing heat envelop you, easing tension, relaxing your muscles and enhancing circulation.

Make sure you hydrate with water before and after. You can leave the sauna at any time, but try to stay for at least 8 to 10 minutes to receive the maximum desired effects.

Step 2 Cold

Push your limits. Expose your body to cold for 10 to 15 seconds.

For the brave at heart, we have two cold tubs available or plunge into the cold lake waters for a rejuvenating shock to the system. It stimulates blood flow, boosts energy, and leaves you feeling invigorated. Opting for a walk in the cold air can also be enough for a gentle experience.

The transition from hot to cold produces a thermal shock, which will close your skin pores and release adrenaline, a hormone that stimulates the body.

Step 3 Relaxation

Spend at least 15 to 20 minutes in a relaxation area.

Unwind as you sit by your firepit (or common fire pit by the beach) soaking in nature’s beauty; swing gently in our hammock, embracing the quietude of nature, and let the fresh air soothe your senses; or read a book in the sauna vestibule.

After the thermal shock to your system, rest slows adrenaline secretion to make way for endorphins, known as the happiness hormones. This relaxation phase is to restore your body temperature and your heart rate, and to recover your respiratory and circulatory balance.

This is when you begin to feel all the benefits of the thermal cycle. Enjoy this moment of relaxation, take the time to reflect, and let yourself feel at peace. It’s a profound sense of calm you’ve rarely felt until now.
